After the glow

Well, it is after the glow of seeing our daugther and on the road again. We are heading back to Deming to stay on our little piece of property for a bit. We have discovered these fuel prices are killing us in Driving time. It cost about a $100.00 a day to travel. Fuel cost only. Normally we drive a day, stay a week. Sometimes two weeks. Leaving Tracys in Amity we have traveled long days for three days now, and are feeling the pinch. So we made it to Moab to boondock for a bit, lick our fuel wounds, and recoup from the long drive time. Usually we only travel four hour days, but since leaving Tracys, we have traveled three eight hour days. Way to much.
However, our visit with Tracy was great. We stayed in an RV park eight miles from Amity. It was a very nice park with lots of flowers and friendly people. I am pretty sure the name was Mulkeys. It is on hwy 18. We actually HAD to pay full price of $144.00 a week. But worth every penny to be with Tracy for a few days.
She and Nate (her boyfriend) has a really neat apt. in Amity. It is in an older building and there apt is over a Mexican Restaurant. The restaurant keeps their apt warm. The light fixtures in the apt. is 1950's and just awnsome. We really loved there place. They have two bearded dragons (lizards) and a kitty Tracy rescued. The kittys name is Tempest (meaning storm). I call him my grandson. I played with him daily when we were there and now tracy has to retrain him since I spoiled him and let him play rough.
Nate had a few days off from roofing due to the weather and is happy to be back at work. Tracy just started a new job at a restaurant three days before we left and really loves her job and the people she works with. She is doing the dishes and janitoral work. Her boss said he would put her out on the floor, but she said no Thank you, she does not want to deal with the people. She is happy where she is for the time being. We ran around town, did lots of Geo Cashes, did a watercolor and lots and lots of other stuff. Tracy and Nate took us to a shop and I put some of my jewelry in for sale. We also went to a Geo Caching event and met lots of wonderful people and made some new friends. Nikki and Scott being our favorites. Nikki and Scott go by Otisprincess. Otis being there last name and princess as Nikki is the princess of Caches. She has placed most of the caches in the Yamhill area I think. I think we got Nate hooked on Cacheing. He has eagle eyes to!!! He found lots of the caches we went to and can spy the little bitty caches really fast. Both "the kids" are happy and that is what counts the most in life.

We had a tough decision to make and decided not to go to Southern oregon and Northern California to see our long time friends. After figuring the fuel cost, cost of parks to stay and Travel time and distance, we decided that our bank account was going to suffer greatly. So we decided to put off the visits to our friends for next year......or when diesel comes down. Here in Utah we are now paying $2.89 per gallon. In New Mexico the diesel is $2.55, and in Mexico it is $1.89 a gallon. Yeah, we will be in mexico soon. Probley in November sometime
.
As for Chuck and I, we are doing well. I am really tired today and Chucks back is bothering him a little. It is cold here (in the mid 50's) so I am in sweats with a cover blanket on me. We started seeing snow on the mountain tops yesterday and this makes us even more wanting to get into some warm weather. Anything below 70 is now cool to us, and anything below 60 is freezing. The nights have been in the 30's and I am just not wanting to get out of my warm blankets in the mornings.
Maybe I should of called this blog "Want a little winnnneee with that cheese" because of my crying about the cold and fuel cost. Hay, it is just good to be alive is it not!! Ok, I will go take a nap and then I will not be so sniffley. Until then, suffer with this blog and we will talk to you all later.
Chuck and Dee

Oh, before we go, We wanted you all to see this!! We stopped for a Geo Cache on the road called "These boots were made for walking". I wondered why that phrase until we stopped at it. Look at this tree!!!

Ok, here is a closer look!! Some of these shoes have been on this poor tree for years. Some of the shoes are dated, some are not. I do not know how this got started, but it was so unusual that we just had to let you all see it for yourselves.

Sumpter Oregon

States that we have Geocached in. The visited states is full.

Hello and good tidings to all!! We are in Oregon now. We spent a wonderful several days with some friends in Sumpter Oregon. Duke and Dianne Elliott own the property and invited us to come and spend some time up there with two other couples. There was Mabel and Bill and Sharon and Alby. We call Alby "Pie" cause pie are round. This is a very loving nickname by the way. We all love our Pie to death. Sharon is Sweet Pie. Yeah, you got our mentally dont ya!! We hated to leave but we did cause we did not want to get sick of each other!! We had a blast and so enjoyed each other's company. We laughed alot, joked with each other, pulled gag's on each other, did art stuff and Bill even helped me make (ok, he did the most of it) a new walking and poking stick for me. He even wood burned "Dee's Geo Stick" on it for me. Thats so Chuck can't steal it!!

This picture is our "camp". The locals started to stop by on there ATV's and ask Duke and Dianne if they had opened an RV park!! Har Har Har!! They (the locals) were very nice and we enjoyed meeting quite a few of them. On the left is our Fifth wheel, Mable and Bills Safari RV,
the big white RV is Duke and Diannes and the other brown one is Sweet Pie's and Pies.

This is a concert given by Mabel and Pie. Pie is playing the guaitar and Mabel is playing an According. Course, you can not see that as bill is giving Dianne a sing along paper and sharon is looking on with her sing along paper wondering what to do with it. She sure was not going to sing. Pie sings great and sounds like Johnny Cash. Really. Sweetie Pie never even hummed. She says her Alby (pie) pays her NOT to sing.

Now this is a better picture of our concert. That is me in the blue shirt. I sang. I don't care if I sound bad. I figure everyone can plug their ears or sing louder than me if my ugly voice finds there ears. Either way, it was a LOT of fun. Notice Berney sound asleep on the RV pad thing. It could not of been that bad cause the dog was not howling.

This is Sweet Pie (Sharon) and I petting a deer I named Jasmine. She was very sweet and allowed me to groom her for over an hour. She loved it. She groomed me with her tongue (the deer, not Sharon, in my hair, arms clothes. I enjoyed every minute with her and I think she enjoyed us to.

Here is Jamine grooming me. She was eating some carrots also. Chuck did not put the pictures of her on after her grooming. She was very happy to get the summer hair off of her and expose her winter hair. If you look closer you can see our hair is alike. Both of our summer hair is more brown, and beneith it is darker. We must be twins!!!

This is Bills Deer Lilly. She used to be Dukes girlfriend, but left Duke for Bill. Even kissing Bill. He feed her a mixture of seed, nuts and other seeds and grains. You can see she eats well. She has to in order to put on fat for the winter. She really liked the men. Sorry Duke, maybe you can win back her affections now that Bill is gone. You know, a little dinner goes a long way with us woman when your dating us. Check with your wife, she will tell you the same. Besides, she never kissed you did she Duke?? THAT tells you who is important !!!

This is typical Sumpter Humor. This town is full of wonderful people with great humor. This sign is at the local gas station and snack store.

So this is what we did when we left I-dee-hoe. We have to thank Duke and Dianne for there wonderful friendship, but not here as they do not do computer stuff, so they will never see this. Yeah, we do have friends who are not into computers, but that is ok, we love them just the same!! Mabel and Bill, it was wonderful spending time with you all. Give Mo-Mo a kitty hug for me and Burney puppy love. Mabel, thank you for the owl you gave me and Bill, I use my stick with great memories. Pie and Sweet Pie, we miss you already. Keep Caching Pie.
So thats it folks. We are on our way tomarrow making our way to see Tracy and Nate in a day or so. We will update later. Take care of each other cause your family and friends are the most important things in your life.

See Ya down the road!
