March 2006 Diaz Ordaz

Tuesday March 7th, Two Couples and I went on a bicycle ride to Mexico. We took the trucks about 60 miles to a town called Los Ebanos. We then unloaded the bikes and boarded the ferry which travels across the Rio Grand River into Mexico.

The ferry is hand drawn and hold 3 cars and a few bicycles. It's $.75 cents to cross. There is then a 1.5 mile ride into the town of Diaz Ordaz. About 2 tenths of a mile in, we stopped and picked up a Geocache, the continued on. Diaz Ordaz is a fair sized town and is a typical laid back Mexican town. Some streets are paved and some are not. We rode around taking turns leading and seeing what roads went where.

We stopped for lunch around 11:30, and a fine lunch it was. Then we continued on our bike tour. Not long after that we had to stop by for Ice Cream (It was hot!) to cool off.

After a few more miles we decided to call it a day and headed back to the ferry and back to Texas. All in all a very good day.
